How to protect and cover your extended family members?
The New and Efficient Way:
Participate in a takaful plan to protect your extended family member who is your dependent without proof of dependency for Sum Covered up to RM50,000*.
*If Sum Covered is more than RM50,000 per Covered Person, proof of financial dependency is required.

What is Extended Family Coverage?
Extended Family Coverage allows customers to protect and safeguard their extended family members who are beyond the immediate family category: Husband, Wife & Children. Extended family include siblings, uncle or aunt, niece or nephew, grandparent, grandchild, cousin, step-parent and step-child with Permissible Takaful Interest.
How is Permissible Takaful Interest applied for Extended Family Coverage?
A person – the takaful participant (dependent), who is fully or partially dependent on the Covered Person (provider) for living maintenance or education at the time of certificate inception is deemed to have Permissible Takaful Interest on the provider.
What are the eligible relationships under the Extended Family Coverage?
The relationship of the Participant (dependent) to the Covered Person (provider) allowed under Extended Family Coverage is as follows.
The Participant can be:

Father – a male biological parent of the adult Covered Person

Mother – a female biological parent of the adult Covered Person

Grandfather – the father of the Covered Person’s biological mother or father

Grandmother – the mother of the Covered Person’s biological father or mother

Brother – a man with the same biological parents as the Covered Person

Sister – a woman with the same biological parents as the Covered Person

Half-brother – a brother who is the son of only one of the Covered Person’s biological parents

Half-sister – a sister who is the daughter of only one of the Covered Person’s biological parents

Grandson – the son of the Covered Person’s biological son or daughter

Granddaughter – the daughter of the Covered Person’s biological son or daughter

Uncle – the full brother of the Covered Person’s biological mother or father

Aunt – the full sister of the Covered Person’s biological mother or father

Nephew – a son of the Covered Person’s biological sister or brother

Niece – a daughter of the Covered Person’s biological brother or sister

Cousin – a child of the Covered Person’s biological aunt or uncle

Stepfather (same household) – the man who is married to the Covered Person’s Mother and is currently living within the same household

Stepmother (same household) – the woman who is married to the Covered Person’s Father and is currently living within the same household

Stepchild (same household) – an adult child of the Covered Person’s spouse from the spouse’s previous marriage and is currently living within the same household

Legal Guardian – a person who has obtained the legal right and responsibility of taking care of the Covered Person, who cannot take care of himself or herself, such as child whose parents have died

Legally Adopted Child – a child who has been legally adopted by the Covered Person and currently is an adult

Biological Child – an adult child of the Covered Person
What is the age limit for Extended Family Coverage?
The Covered Person must be between the ages of 19 and 70 next birthday, whereas the Participant must be between the ages of 19 and 100 next birthday.
What are the plans that offer Extended Family Coverage?
Extended Family Coverage is only available with PruBSN AnugerahPlus.
What is the maximum Sum Covered for Extended Family coverage?
The maximum Sum Covered is RM750,000 per Covered Person, subject to underwriting.
Is there any additional document required for Extended Family Coverage application?
A Relationship Declaration Form is required for Extended Family Coverage application to declare and establish the relationship and financial dependency between the Participant and the Covered Person.
For Sum Covered more than RM50,000, financial evidence will be required as proof of financial dependency.
What are examples of financial dependency documents needed (for Sum Covered above RM50,000)?
Proof of financial dependance for maintenance or education can be bank statements, payment receipts, etc.
Example:
- Bank statement to show regular deposits or payments for living maintenance
- Receipt or any proof of tertiary education tuition fee paid for the dependent
