Prudential completes first histotripsy claim for liver cancer treatment
Kuala Lumpur, 5 th January 2018 - Every year, thousands of patients received treatments at the National Heart Institute of Malaysia (Institut Jantung Negara or IJN). For any child undergoing heart surgery or a heart procedure, it is always the aim that their stay in hospital is as comfortable as possible.
The non-profit charitable arm of Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad, PruBSN Prihatin, continues to strengthen its partnership with Rakan IJN today with the launch of a physiotherapy centre, situated within the children’s ward at IJN. The facility is equipped with the latest specialised equipments to undertake rehabilitation, operated by a team of highly skilled therapists. An average of nearly 3,000 children will benefit from this facility every year.
PruBSN’s Chief Marketing Officer, Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail commented, “Post heart surgery, the children usually experience some sort of physical and psychological trauma. The new centre will provide these children and parents the support they need to ensure complete recovery. We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with Rakan IJN, and will continue to do more to bring meaningful impact towards the IJN community.”
Rakan IJN with close support with the hospital, has been able to identify specific needs of the patients of IJN, and has been able to organise and utilise funds donated to provide that extra care, and to help ensure that the patient’s comfort and wellbeing are taken care of, on top of the excellent clinical care they receive from the hospital.
PruBSN Prihatin first collaborated with Rakan IJN in 2016 where 1,000 health and hygiene starter kits were provided to the paediatric patients upon their admission to the hospital.PruBSN Prihatin continues to support Rakan IJN to advance its efforts in providing extra care for IJN’s paediatric patients and their families. About Rakan IJN Rakan IJN
(Persatuan Rakan IJN Malaysia) is a fully registered society. Since 1999, Rakan IJN volunteers have continued to provide support to the patients of Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), through its various programmes. Its volunteers conduct Patient Visitors programme, sharing experiences to patients undergoing surgery, provide comfort and basic necessities, recreational toys and sustenance for needy patients and their caregivers, reading materials, and assist with rehabilitation programmes. These are some of the ways in which Rakan IJN volunteers have provided much comfort to so many patients of IJN.
Rakan IJN is an avenue for corporate organisations to be able to conduct their Corporate Social Responsibilities within the hospital, whether it is to provide festive cheer to patients, donate special equipments, or refurbish and maintain the children’s playroom.
